Many photos from my architectural gallery were shot in Emeryville, directly west across San Francisco Bay from San Francisco. It offers extraordinary examples of industrial chic warehouse architecture ---- the entire area has been revitalized and reinvented over the last ten or fifteen years while still maintaining its warehouse district roots. Although I shudder to see the Gap Kids stores and Starbucks and big box retailers, it nonetheless showcases the transformative effects of thoughtful urban planning.
